07 Masroig Spanish Red, Sola Fred/ Cataluna $8.99
“The red wines begin with the 2007 Sola Fred, a non-oaked cuvee of 90% Carinena and 10% Garnacha. Dark ruby-colored, it has an excellent nose of violets, black cherry, and earth notes. Supple and forward on the palate, it has serious depth of flavor, excellent balance, and a long, fruity finish. This hedonistic effort is a great value for drinking over the next 2-3 years.” WA 90
06 Artazu “Artazuri” Garnacha $9.97
Located in the northernmost zone of the Navarra region, Bodegas Artazu specializes in Grenache. This, their entry level wine, is an incredible value made from the younger vines on their property. Bright red with zesty redcurrant, strawberry and cranberry on the nose, with notes of dusty minerals and pepper adding interest. Tangy and energetic on the palate, the red fruit flavors sharply etched and pure. Firming juicy acids help to carry the strawberry tone through a spicy, long finish. It is a fresh and fruity wine, with an underlying minerality that is great with or without food.
On Re-Order, back in stock shortly 07 Château La Moulinière Bordeaux Blanc $7.99
This is one of the best bargains in white Bordeaux that we've ever come across, even a bit deeper than the impressive 2006. It begins with a nose of juicy grapefruit and liquefied chalk, plus hints of nectarine, sweet hay and fresh cut grass. On the palate the wine is remarkably pretty, silky, round and well-balanced for a wine at this price point. Waxy grapefruit flavors are joined by nectarine, fresh peach skin and cut grass notes with very good lift from well integrated acidity. The clean, bright finish is capped with lingering hints of fresh field flowers and stone. This is a perfect everyday white, certain to add a hint of elegance to any occasion.
05 Odfjell “Armador” Chile Cabernet Sauvignon $8.97
This wine received a 90 point rating by The Wine Advocate, although no tasting note was given. It is another outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon value from this impressive Chilean producer. Bright red and black berries are followed by a touch of roasted red pepper and a hint of fresh jalapeño. The brightness of the nose carries through on the palate, which is smooth and loaded with cassis and blackberry flavors and chalk tones. This wine finishes with vibrant fruit and a touch of pleasingly dusty, ripe tannins. An expressive and distinctive Cabernet buy.
06 Ox Vineyard Mendoza Cabernet Sauvignon (Net) $5.97
Fire up some hamburgers because we have their perfect match! This very pure expression of Cabernet starts with a nose of cassis, cherry and earth. On the palate more cassis is supported by bright plum and earthy mineral, and racy acidity and firm tannins make this Cabernet a vibrant and round mouthful. It's perfect for parties, so buy it by the case.
