Summer is rosé time!
08 Rimbert “Petit Cochon” Saint Chinian Rosè $8.99
This rosé is dark pink in the glass with a rusty nail red rounding the rim of the glass. Deep scents of ultra-ripe crushed red cherries, a note of guava paste, overripe fig flesh and a pretty, yet smoky note of sweet herbs. Blood Orange infused red berry flavors dominate the palate and are set-off by the wines generous minerality. Serve this hearty summer wine with a spicy couscous and lamb tagine, flame grilled chicken dishes, spicy lamb or beef kebabs, sweet barbequed pork dishes and succulent Asian dishes.
08 Bieler Pere Et Fils Coteaux d'Aix “Sabine” Rosè $8.99
This rosé is a beautiful salmon color. The wine shimmers in the glass with aromas of juicy watermelon flesh, rose hips and fresh strawberries; these scents carry over into the flavors possessing the evocative palate. The mouth feel of this gem is round and soft with bright, apple like acidity on the finish. While traditional Provence rosés tend toward a leaner profile, Sabine is blended for a more generous mid-palate and softer finish.
08 Marqués de Caceres Rioja Rosé $6.99
This dry rosé shows real structure, with bold cherry and plum flavors, firm acidity and light tannins. Can stand up to food.
07 La Versa “Tenimenti Confalonieri” Pinot Noir $6.99
Ruby red color with ample scents of ripe strawberry and cherry that follow through on the palate. The red fruit flavors are beautifully integrated with an elegant note of oak and a touch of wood spice. The finish is light and dry with a distinctive background of cherries. This Pinot will harmonize well with grilled salmon, a good cut of plain roast beef, or any dish that features mushrooms as the main flavor element.
06 Bleasdale “Langhorne Crossing” Cabernet Sauvignon Blend $7.99
Deep ruby red in the glass with vibrant red berry aromatics that follow through on the palate where they are complemented by a nice note of sweet spice. The minimal French Oak the wine comes into contact with gently broadens the dimensions this sturdy red possesses and highlights the depth of fruit on the mid-palate and silken notes of beautifully integrated acidity that boosts the wines lingering finish.
08 Altos Las Hormigas Malbec $9.99
Blue-black in the glass with a lovely array of ripe red plum, sweet dark chocolate and a hint of warm tar scents on the nose. The palate has great concentration at this price with loads of red berry and sweet, succulent black fruit flavors dominating. Racy fruit notes are followed by a subtle note of crushed violets that carry into the lingering finish. This Malbec is a great wine for just kicking back with while having a casual conversation with friends or serve it with a grilled shell steak, mashed potatoes and a side of spinach. Either way you can't lose.
06 Bodegas Alto Almanzora “Este” Monastrell Blend Spanish Red $8.97
The Wine Advocate rated this wine but did not provide a tasting note. As such, we have provided one for you. The nose opens with a bouquet of lavender and violet dusted with black pepper, behind which a juicy core of blackberry and ripe black plum shimmers. On the palate the wine is full bodied with good acidity and small, velvety tannin. Flavors of dark fruit, including blackberry and black cherry flow from attack to through the finish, accompanied by hints of coco powder and crushed stone which linger on the back end. Juicy and very drinkable! WA 90.
07 Olmeto IGT Umbria Merlot $9.99
This superb Merlot value opens on the nose with scents of bright red cherry and raspberry scents spiced with hints of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg. These aromas mingle with touches of fresh cut mission fig, plum, cedar and black licorice. On the palate it is plush, and ample with a sensual, silky mouthfeel. The cherry, raspberry and fresh black fig notes in the mouth are round and buttressed by integrated acidity. The finish is supple and lingering with spice tones. This is not your typical bargain Merlot, but rather a highly drinkable red you'll find yourself coming back to for the pleasure of it.
