Located in the northernmost zone of the Navarra region, Bodegas Artazu specializes in Grenache. This, their entry level wine, is an incredible value made from the younger vines on their property. Bright red with zesty redcurrant, strawberry and cranberry on the nose, with notes of dusty minerals and pepper adding interest. Tangy and energetic on the palate, the red fruit flavors sharply etched and pure. Firming juicy acids help to carry the strawberry tone through a spicy, long finish. It is a fresh and fruity wine, with an underlying minerality that is great with or without food.

This is one of the best bargains in white Bordeaux that we've ever come across, even a bit deeper than the impressive 2006. It begins with a nose of juicy grapefruit and liquefied chalk, plus hints of nectarine, sweet hay and fresh cut grass. On the palate the wine is remarkably pretty, silky, round and well-balanced for a wine at this price point. Waxy grapefruit flavors are joined by nectarine, fresh peach skin and cut grass notes with very good lift from well integrated acidity.
